About us — Strajdata Winery
Where quality meets tradition
Strajdata Winery is a family project born from a love of Bulgarian wine and respect for tradition. Located in the heart of the Thracian Lowlands, the winery combines the region’s favourable terroir with modern technology and a sustainable approach to winemaking. Our mission is to create boutique wines that reflect the land, the vintage and the careful work behind every bottle.
We produce limited editions because we believe quality requires attention to detail. Each Strajdata wine has its own identity, balancing aroma, structure and elegance.
Our philosophy combines respect for Bulgarian winemaking traditions with a contemporary expression of the grapes. Alongside classic international varieties, we grow prized local grapes such as Sandanski Misket, Tamianka and Rubin, emblematic of the Thracian Lowlands.
Careful grape selection and controlled production allow us to make wines with PGI Thracian Lowlands, distinguished by body, freshness and a memorable aromatic profile. For us, wine is an expression of the land, the climate and the people behind it.
Strajdata’s mission is to promote Bulgarian boutique wine and express the region’s authentic character through limited editions with a distinctive style. Sustainable viticulture, careful selection and precise cellar work are central to creating wines with depth and identity.
Every bottle is an invitation to discover the richness of Bulgarian grapes and the potential of the Thracian Lowlands.
Tradition passed down with love
From vineyard to bottle — care in every detail
In the cellar, traditional methods meet modern technology to ensure precision at every stage. After careful selection, grapes are handled gently to preserve their natural aromatic potential.
Fermentation is closely controlled to preserve freshness and varietal character. Some wines mature in French oak barrels, developing complexity, a velvety structure and delicate notes of vanilla, spices and tobacco. Each batch is monitored individually, with ageing decisions based on the wine’s development.
Our philosophy is simple: smaller quantities, higher quality. Every Strajdata bottle tells a story of the Thracian Lowlands and our dedication to winemaking.
Our terroir and vineyards
Strajdata’s vineyards lie on the northern slopes near the Maritsa River, with excellent sunlight exposure and a favourable microclimate. Long, warm days and cool nights create ideal conditions for slow ripening and complex aromas.
The local soils contribute minerality and balance. Each variety is planted in a plot suited to its needs, allowing the fruit to develop at its best. We work with limited yields because quality begins in the vineyard.
Our sustainable, environmentally conscious practices aim to protect the natural balance and the health of the vines. Hand harvesting allows us to select the best fruit for our boutique wines.
