Right to withdraw from a distance contract
1. Right of withdrawal
Under Article 50 and the following provisions of the Bulgarian Consumer Protection Act, a consumer may withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason or paying compensation or a penalty.
The period starts when the consumer, or a third party other than the carrier, receives the goods.
2. Exercising the right of withdrawal
To exercise this right, notify the trader by a written request sent by email or another unambiguous written statement.
Goods must be returned in their original retail packaging, without signs of use and with the product intact. Return costs are borne by the consumer unless expressly agreed otherwise.
3. Exceptions
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- Goods unsealed after delivery that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons
- Alcoholic beverages with damaged or opened packaging
- Custom-made goods
4. Refunds
When the right of withdrawal is exercised, the trader refunds all payments received, including standard delivery costs, within 14 days of notification. Refunds use the same payment method unless agreed otherwise. The trader may withhold the refund until the returned goods are received.
Payment disputes
If a dispute arises about a card payment, the consumer may submit a complaint to the trader, contact their bank or initiate a chargeback under the rules of the relevant card organisation. Disputes are handled under applicable Bulgarian legislation.
